Whether you've always wanted to fly a Hippogriff or meet Snoopy in person, Universal Studios Japan will make those dreams come true. The Osaka-based theme park is split into nine areas: Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Jurassic Park, Waterworld, Amity Village, Universal Wonderland, Super Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a major highlight for fans of the JK Rowling series, with options to visit and purchase your very own wand from Ollivanders, grab a butter beer in Hogsmeade and enjoy all the quirky delights from Zonko's Joke Shop and Honeydukes.

Popular attractions and rides at Universal Studios Japan include rides taken straight from the silver screen such as Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Jaws, and Jurassic Park – The Ride.

Opening Hours

Hours of operation at Universal Studios Japan vary depending on the season. During peak season, you can expect daily operation between 09:00 and 21:00, while quieter times of year see the park open at 10:00 and close at 18:00. It's best to check the park's official website (www.usj.co.jp) for up-to-date hours prior to your trip.

Jump the Queue

A Universal Express Pass park entry ticket allows patrons to skip long lines for popular attractions. The studio pass admission ticket is not an area timed entry ticket – it simply shortens wait times – and can be purchased for 3, 5 or 7 attractions.

Universal Express Passes costs vary depending on the season and are available at the park entrance (but admission tickets are known to sell out during busy times, so an advance booking is recommended).

Getting There

Universal Studios Japan is about a five-minute walk from the Universal City Station on the JR Yumesaki Line (also known as the JR Sakurajima Line). Trains run direct from Osaka Station every 15 minutes or so.

The easiest way to reach Universal Studios Japan from Kansai Airport is to take a JP Airport Rapid train to Nishikujo Station and transfer to the JR Yumesaki Line, disembarking at the station.
