The first WorldPride was held in Rome in the year 2000, and since then, countries have competed for the right to host the event.

 

In 2023, the event is heading Down Under to Sydney, marking the first time that the festival has been held in the Southern Hemisphere. The event will take place from 17 February to 5 March. Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert

Get the Sydney WorldPride party started with some of Australia’s best musicians and singers. Join headline act, Kylie Minogue, and other iconic acts at The Domain in Sydney for a night of colourful celebrations.  
 
The concert starts at 7PM, but head there from 3PM and enjoy the food and beverage offerings plus pre-show entertainment.

Pride March

Make your mark on history and join 50,000 people walking across the Sydney Harbour Bridge for global equality. Put on your brightest colours as you march across the iconic landmark in what will be a powerful statement of visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community, not just in Australia, but all over the world.

Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference

Sydney WorldPride will feature the largest LGBTQIA+ Human Rights Conference ever held in the Aisa-Pacific Region.

The conference will see LGBTQIA+ community members from across the globe will come together for three days of keynotes, panels, roundtables, interactive workshops and more. The conference aims to tackle the big issues facing LGBTQIA+ communities.

Topics will include, community & culture, justice & freedom, health & wellbeing, visibility & inclusion.

Bondi Beach Party

Dance the day into night at the Bondi Beach Party. Be there as Sydney’s sandy crown jewel transforms into the city’s hottest party for one day only. All colours of the rainbow are welcome on the beach as you join 12,000 people for seven hours of celebration with the global queer community.

Dance the night away as 17-days of Sydney WorldPride festivities culminate in an epic final celebration. Come together one last time for six hours of live music, DJs and performances as The Domain serves up a queer megamix of international and local acts. Plus, enjoy the many food outlets and bars available on site. Don’t miss out on what is sure to be an unforgettable event!

Mardi Gras Party

Welcome to the official Mardi Gras Party! Get ready to party with 10,000+ friends at the biggest and longest-running LGBTQIA+ party in the Southern Hemisphere. With DJs and surprise performances lighting up multiple dancefloors with house, pop, electronic, nu-disco, club, R‘n’B and techno – this is sure to be a night to remember. 

 

Where: Hordern Pavilion, Liberty Hall, Watson’s and The Entertainment Quarter 

When: 10PM Saturday 25 February – 8AM Sunday 26 February 

First Nations Gathering Space

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are renowned for their creativity and striking visual art! 

 

During Sydney WorldPride, the inner-city suburbs of Eveleigh and Redfern will come alive with First Nations creativity. For six days the beautifully converted train sheds of Carriageworks will play host to free exhibits, theatre, dining, drag and more. The First Nations Gathering Space will be a place for people to discover the rainbow heart of the world’s oldest surviving culture.

Pride Villages

Oxford Street, the home of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, is a beloved district by the LGBTQIA+ community. For Sydney WorldPride, it will be closed for traffic to create a colourful and fabulous festival hub. The area will have daily stalls, performances and dining, serving as a place to connect with friends and family. 

To celebrate the final weekend of WorldPride (4 – 5 March), Oxford Street will be closed to traffic, to make way for a once-in-a-lifetime street party.
