International travel is so close we can almost taste the fresh coconuts on the beach in Fiji.
What we know about the Fiji travel bubble:
Fully vaccinated international travellers will be able to visit Fiji from December 1.
Fiji is open to fully vaccinated, Fijian passport holders and returning residents.
Visitors must show proof of vaccination and test negative for COVID-19 72 hours prior to departure to the pacific region.
Visitors must follow COVID safe procedures and head straight to their pre-booked hotel for 48 hours.
Visitors will still be free to explore Fiji during the first 48 hours. They will just be required to use a 'Care Fiji Commitment' (CFC) certified operators and tourism experiences.
48 hours after arrival, travellers must take a Rapid Diagnostic Test and be COVID free.
Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Fiji Airways have announced the return of direct flights to Fiji from mid-December.
Here’s The Latest Update On The Fiji Travel Bubble:
From the 1st of December, Fiji will welcome all fully vaccinated travellers from select Travel Partner Countries for quarantine-free travel, provided they show proof of booking with a CFC accommodation for their first 3 nights in Fiji
When returning to Australia, the decision to open international borders varies by state. So be sure to check your state’s latest requirements. As it stands, travellers returning to Australia may only enter and travel between NSW, Victoria and the ACT without quarantining.
What Do You Need:
1. Negative RT-PCR Test: Travellers over the age of 12 will have to provide a negative COVID-19 result less than 3 days prior to departure. If you have tested positive to COVID-19 within 90 days of travel to Fiji, you will have to provide proof of isolation period served or a fit to fly certificate from a medical practitioner.
2. Proof of Vaccination: All travellers over the age of 18 must be fully vaccinated before travelling to Fiji. You will be required to provide proof of vaccination and a 14-day waiting period after your second dose will apply.
3. Pre-paid accommodation: You must provide proof of a minimum 3 night stay at a CFC certified hotel or resort. This will also include ground transfers from the airport.
4. Travel Insurance: You must have medical travel insurance that covers international travel and Covid-19 before travelling.
When In Fiji:
- Travellers must download Fiji’s Contract Tracing app, CareFIJI and keep the device Bluetooth on at all times during their stay.
- Travellers must spend 3 nights in a CFC certified property and can take part in CFC excursions and activities within the Safe Travel Area (STA)
- Travellers will be required to take a rapid antigen COVID-19 test after 48 hours of arrival at hotel. After testing negative, traveller will be cleared to explore the STA or enter community.
- During the first 48 hours, you will still be able to explore Fiji – you just need to use CFC certified operators and tourism experiences.
- Follow all public health measures - including face masks and social distancing.
What Happens If You Test Positive In Fiji?
According to national guidelines, if you test positive to COVID-19 while in Fiji, you will be required to undergo further testing and complete 10 days quarantine. The CFC property you are staying at will have plans and procedures to help you comfortably isolate at your resort. They will also help you to contact the relevant medical authorities. If this happens, we advise you to contact your travel insurer, rebook flights and amend your accommodation.
Should your symptoms progress, you will be treated in your room or moved to a dedicated medical facility.
Once you test negative and complete your isolation period, you will be free to return to your home country.
Do kids need to be full vaccinated?
Currently, the Fiji Government has made it clear that unvaccinated children (below 18 years old) can travel with their vaccinated parents. However, these parents must be fully vaccinated.
