Fans of the ocean cruise will be very happy to hear that Carnival Splendor – from the world’s largest cruise line, Carnival Cruise Line – will homeport in Australia year-round as of 2019, making it the newest and largest ship to do so.
Carnival Splendor will be based in Sydney, which is great news for anyone who is looking for a fun, family-friendly cruise holiday. The numbers reveal that this is just the sort of holiday Australians love, with over 800,000 of us setting sail with Carnival from home shores in the last five years alone.

Just like sister ship Carnival Spirit, which was recently announced as Australia’s favourite year-round cruise ship as rated by Australian travelers, the new Carnival Splendor will undergo an ‘extensive drydock’ prior to her trip to Australia.
Time out of the water will be used wisely, with a number of improvements being made to ensure she’s 100% ship-shape for Aussie cruisers. These tweaks include a range of new dining experiences tailored to local tastes, a completely new water park, and an increase in capacity that will see the number of potential passengers rise from 3,007 to a mighty 3,900.
Carnival Splendor will primarily sail to the South Pacific, with the 113,300 gross tonnage cruise liner offering itineraries eight to 10 days in length. The ship will pick up Carnival’s regular Australian itineraries to destinations such as Queensland and Tasmania, and is also expected to make an annual cruise to New Zealand.
After a repositioning cruise from Singapore, Carnival Splendor is set to arrive through Sydney Heads to kick off her Australian season in December 2019.

Bookings for Carnival Splendor’s 2019 sailings will open in March this year, and sailings for 2020 will open in May/June this year.
