Getting started with Virgin Australia Business Flyer and moving through the tiers:
Starting Out At Tier 1
Once your Virgin Australia Business Flyer membership is approved, you’ll begin at Tier 19. That’s the entry-level category, for all businesses spending $0 to $9,999 per year on eligible Virgin Australia flights.*
You read that correctly. Your business doesn’t need any existing Virgin Australia flight bookings before signing up. Virgin Australia Business Flyer membership is also commitment-free, as you’re not locked into any minimum spending targets.
But whenever you’re ready to book business travel, these Virgin Australia Business Flyer perks will be ready and waiting:
- For every $1 spent on eligible Virgin Australia flights, earn 1 Velocity Point for the business.1 This is over and above the Velocity Points (and Status Credits) earned by the traveller – so nobody misses out.
- Save 4% off Flex fares and 6% off Business Class fares on eligible Virgin Australia flights, year-round.4
- Spend $2,000 or more on flights (excluding taxes and fees) within the first three months of joining Virgin Australia Business Flyer and two people in your business will receive the benefits of Velocity Gold Status for three months.7
- Purchase annual Virgin Australia Lounge memberships at the discounted price of $379, with no joining fee.6

Moving Up To Tier 2
Businesses that spend at least $10,000 per year on Virgin Australia flights get upgraded to Tier 2. This unlocks even more generous rewards in return for the company’s loyalty9.
Compared with Tier 1, Tier 2 delivers a 50% Points boost. That’s 1.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent on eligible flights. Of course, these remain in addition to the Velocity Points earned by each traveller who is a Velocity Frequent Flyer member.
Moving Up To Tier 3
If your business’ flight spend exceeds $50,000 per year, its membership shifts to Tier 3. Offering 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent on Virgin Australia flights, this top level provides twice as many Velocity Points per dollar versus Tier 1.
What can a business do with Velocity Points?
Virgin Australia Business Flyer members initially earn Velocity Points under the business’ account. These can later be transferred into personal Velocity Frequent Flyer points once the Business Points balance reaches 3,000.3
That is, the business can send its points to the Velocity frequent flyer account of a company director or business owner. Alternatively, Points could also be sent to an employee or contractor of the business.
A business can make as many Points transfers as it likes, provided each transfer is for at least 3,000 Velocity Points.
Once the points have landed in an individual’s account, they can be spent just like any other Velocity Points.
For instance, an individual could use them towards flights as part of a future business trip (or holiday). Or perhaps, an upgrade from Virgin Australia Economy to Business Class as a treat.

1 Virgin Australia Business Flyer Members can earn up to 1,000,000 Points from Virgin Australia, airlines partners and Virgin Australia codeshare flights only, per annum, based on the rolling 12-month period from when the Member joins Virgin Australia Business Flyer. Points aren’t earned on certain fees, taxes, or charges. Virgin Australia Business Flyer and Loyalty Terms and Conditions and Velocity membership Terms and Conditions apply.
2 Velocity Frequent Flyer Points Terms and Conditions: If the individual flying with Virgin Australia or a partner airline is also a Velocity Frequent Flyer Program member, they may also earn Velocity Frequent Flyer Program points in accordance with the relevant Velocity Frequent Flyer Program Terms.
3 Points transfer: Virgin Australia Business Flyer Account Administrators can transfer Points earned by the Virgin Australia Business Flyer member to a Velocity Frequent Flyer member, provided that (a) there is a minimum of 3,000 Points per transfer; and (b) the Velocity Frequent Flyer member transferee is directly employed or contracted by the Virgin Australia Business Flyer member.

8 Virgin Australia Business Flyer membership is available to businesses with an active ABN/ACN and an Australian business address that spend less than $300K per annum on flights with Virgin Australia. The business cannot be a Superannuation fund, travel agent, travel management company, travel wholesaler, air travel consolidator or anyone re-selling air travel. 9 Virgin Australia Business Flyer has multiple Tier Levels. The Tier Level determines the types of Program Benefits the Virgin Australia Business Flyer member is entitled to access. Certain Program Benefits may only be provided to a specific Tier Level. The Program Benefits are incorporated into these Terms.
10 United Airlines Terms and Conditions. Points earn: Virgin Australia Business Flyer members (Members) will earn Velocity Points when Travellers fly on eligible United Airlines operated flights with a VA flight number (excluding fare classes X, Z and G) bookable via an Eligible Booking Channel as follows:
1. Tier 1: 1 Point per AUD $1 spent
2. Tier 2: 1.5 Points per AUD $1 spent
3. Tier 3: 2 Points per AUD $1 spent
Please note that Velocity Points cannot be earned on certain fees or charges (e.g. baggage charges and credit card surcharges). Travellers travelling on upgraded fares that were purchased with Points or by bidding for an upgrade will earn as per the rules of the original fare class purchased. An Eligible Booking Channel is: 1. the Virgin Australia Business Flyer Booking Portal, 2. www.virginaustralia.com provided that the Member’s ABN is included, 3. the Member’s nominated TMC, and 4. the Guest Contact Centre.
Please note that Members can earn up to 1,000,000 Velocity Points per annum for travel on flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia or flights marketed by Virgin Australia and operated by eligible international partner airlines (with a VA flight number) (including United Airlines) based on the rolling 12-month period from when the Member joins Virgin Australia Business Flyer.
Membership and Points earn is subject to the Virgin Australia Business Flyer Terms and Conditions and Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions, and any changes to the Member benefits and program features, including Points earn for eligible travel on flights operated by United Airlines, will be governed by those Terms and Conditions. Velocity collects and handles your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy, and Virgin Australia Business Flyer collects and handles your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
Earn rates are correct as at 3 April 2023 and are subject to change. Flights are governed by the operating carrier's terms and conditions, which can be viewed on the operating carrier's website. Members travelling on upgraded fares purchased with Points or any other subsidised means of upgrades on Virgin Australia or our international partner airlines will earn Points based on originally purchased fare classes. If paying for an upgrade with the international partner airline, the airline partner may re-issue the ticket without a VA flight code/the ticket may no longer start with 795, and the member may no longer be eligible for Points earn. UA Business Discounts
As at 1 November 2023, the following discounts apply to the United Airlines and Virgin Australia base fares (which excludes fees, carrier charges and taxes) of Virgin Australia marketed and United Airlines operated flights (with a VA flight number) booked by Members (UA Business Discounts), which may change without notice:
Business fare type, VA fare class J, C and D, UA business discount of 10%
Economy Flex fare type, VA fare class Y, B, W, H, K and L, UA business discount of 10%
Economy Choice fare type, VA fare class R and E, UA business discount of 5%
Economy fare type, VA fare class O, N, V, P, Q, T, I and S, UA business discount 0%.
