Expert guides
Our guides an an enthusiastic and informed bunch who get a real kick out of taking you through what they know and love about their country. They've all got comprehensive training in first aid, driving, fatigue management, environmental awareness and local history and geology, so you can expect your experience to be as enjoyable as humanly possible. We're pretty proud of them.
Environmental awareness
We're big believers in sustainable tourism and big doers when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint. We use the eight principles of Eco Certification in all our on-ground operations, from selecting the campsites we stay at to maintaining our transport fleet and camping equipment.
Included extras
The majority of trip components - national park entrance fees, most meals, the defining activities in a place - are included in your trip. We have a list of optional activities on some trips too, like boat cruises through croc-filled waterways or camel rides through the desert, to give travellers the opportunity to do something a little bit different. Keeping these as optional extras help keep the trip price down and ensure you'll only be paying for the activities that you actually want to do.
Exclusive accommodation
From working cattle stations to well-equipped wilderness lodges, desert campsites to underground bunkhouses, the accommodation we use is all part of the ATA experience. Some of it may be a tad rustic, but we believe evenings by a campfire and nights in a canvas tent or swag are the best ways to meet the Outback.

3 Day Uluru Adventure
"Best way to see it all in very little time. A day each at Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon with an experienced tour guide. The knowledge shown by tour guide Pam Armstrong and her love for the area is infectious! Camp sites were well managed by hosetesses Tahnee and Kate. Tahnee you really made it feel like home. Thanks for the awesome trip!"

An Unforgettable Experience: 3 Day Rock-to-Rock
"This is a must-do tour if you want to experience the essence of the outback with limited time. It covers the 3 main unmissable locations - Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta and Uluru. Unlike most other tours, it starts with a 3.5 hour sunrise walk in Kings Canyon - this is great because you get the hardest (but spectacular) walk out of the way and work your way back to Uluru as your tour's breathtaking finale. Our tour guide Justin is one of the most dedicated, knowledgeable and energetic guides we've had the pleasure of sharing the past 3 days with. He went out of his way to look after us while keeping us entertained and well-fed all the way, despite sleep depreciation and a stomach upset. I highly recommend doing this tour and thanks for the memories Justin "Pinky"!"

5 Day Adventure - Darwin to Kakadu
"We went on a tour using Adventure Tours Australia (Intrepid Travel) and had the most amazing time! This is an excellent option and great value for money. The set up involved staying in different campsites with great facilities and group meals. The group was excellent, everyone was pretty helpful sharing the tasks and most enjoyed the same types of activities which made it fun for everyone. Our guide, Sam, was awesome! Really knowledgeable and super helpful, Sam went above and beyond to ensure everyone was having a good time! It is also worth noting Sam was a great chef too! We highly recommend Adventure Tours Australia and look forward to the next adventure!"

4 day / 3 night tour of Darwin, Litchfield, Kakadu and Katherine
"Absolutely fantastic tour and an amazing tour guide named Rick. He was incredibly knowledgeable, flexible, patient, organised, entertaining, and extremely good at keeping the group informed. Nothing was too much trouble and he made the tour such a beautiful experience. We felt very fortunate. The tour itself was magical and we loved absolutely every minute of it. Thoroughly recommend it and look forward to making future bookings with Adventure Tours, especially if Rick is the guide!!!"

3 Day Uluru Adventure
"Mum and I did the 3 day Uluru Adventure Original tour and had an absolute ball. From the minute we were picked up from our hotel by our guide, everything ran smooth and easy, there was something to do at any time and all our needs were taken care of. Our tour guide, "Chief", was fantastic, very knowledgeable and helped us to understand the cultural significance of the places we were visiting. The permanent tents were wonderful, lovely clean linen and the campsite facilities were better than expected. Would recommend to anyone interested in seeing the outback who also still need those little creature comforts."
