Day 2 Washington DC Sightseeing and Free Time. Today is all about unearthing the political and cultural highlights of this high-flying city. You'll kick things off with a sightseeing tour that will feel more like a walk through a real-life movie set, see icons including the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the jewel in America's political crown, the White House. Visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture on a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER� Experience. This is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture and houses over 36,000 fascinating artifacts. And if that whets your appetite for history, maybe also choose to visit the Air and Space Museum. With the rest of the day to explore as you please, the question is really where to start? Perhaps take a walk around the Tidal Basin Loop Trail or choose experiences like visiting George Washington's sprawling Mount Vernon Estate. This evening we then have another Optional Experience, Washington Illumination Tour, where you'll see DC's most famous monuments lit up in their nighttime glory. Day 3 Washington, D.C. - Lancaster (1 Night). Today you'll travel back in time as we reach Pennsylvania Dutch farm country, home to America's oldest and largest settlement of Amish people. Spot farmers working the fields with their horses and manual tools and traditional horse and buggies passing you by as you take in the beautiful rural surroundings. We'll then meet up with a Local Specialist who will share all about the 'plain' lifestyle of the Amish community, who live without cars, televisions, mobile phones or modern-day appliances. You could choose to try out the traditional buggy for yourself on a ride through the back roads, or join in on an Amish family-style dinner at Good 'n' Plenty, serving authentic Pennsylvania Dutch meals since 1969. Day 4 Lancaster - Niagara Falls, Canada (2 Nights). Travelling northwest today, you'll journey along the surging Susquehanna River as you cross the western region of New York State. Passing through the Appalachian Mountains and no doubt in utter awe of the scenery around you, bear in mind that this mountain range is one of the oldest on earth, formed around 480 million years ago and spanning the border between the USA and Canada. Day 5 Niagara Falls Sightseeing and Free Time. This morning you're off to visit a natural phenomenon, Niagara Falls The biggest falls in North America, an incredible 750,000 gallons of water thunder into the gorge below every second. We'll be getting you up close on a cruise to Horseshoe Falls, allowing you to see both the Canadian and American sides. Remember that raincoat? Now's the time to use it. Day 6 Niagara Falls - New York City (2 Nights). Bidding a fond farewell to Niagara Falls this morning, you'll journey back across the border through leafy and picturesque upstate New York. Passing by the fun to pronounce Poconos Mountains, which literally mean 'creek between two hills', you'll make your way into the lush farmlands of New Jersey. Sprawling McMansions, tall pine forests and miles upon miles of coastline will keep you entertained as you venture towards the fast and fabulous metropolis of NYC. Arriving late afternoon and no doubt itching to explore, why not spend your first night here getting acquainted with the city's foodie scene? From gourmet food trucks to Michelin Star restaurants, the city that never sleeps ensures you'll never go hungry. Day 7 New York City Sightseeing and Free Time. We hope you're hungry as for breakfast you're heading to an NYC institution, the Brooklyn Diner for an iconic breakfast. Fuel up on classic eggs and bacon, bagels, and coffee, then head out with our Local Specialist to discover New York through their eyes with the secrets behind some of Manhattan's most iconic sites including Broadway, the Top of the Rock, leafy Greenwich Village, fast paced Wall Street and the sobering 9/11 Memorial. You'll end your tour with insider stories to share with friends back home. This afternoon, it's all about discovering New York, your way. Head over to trendy Brooklyn, catch a show on Broadway, or take your own bite out of the Big Apple with our tantalizing list of Optional Experiences. Day 1 Welcome to Boston. Boston, known as the 'Cradle of Liberty', was once home to famous sons such as Samuel Adams, Paul Revere and Benjamin Franklin. Immerse yourself in its revolutionary history or stroll along the waterfront. This evening, meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers for dinner to kick-start your New England tour. Day 2 Take a Historical Drive Through New England. Unlock the best of Boston walking along parts of the Freedom Trail. Stroll through Boston Common, Massachusetts State House, Granary Burying Ground established in 1660 by some of America's most notable citizens, Old State House -- the site of the Boston Massacre and the oldest surviving public house in Boston and Faneuil Hall -- America's first Town Meeting and vital location in revolutionary politics. You'll love following the red-brick path that winds to historic sites that reveal the history of the American Revolution. Stop in historic Lexington and Concord, the site where "the shot heard round the world" was fired, marking the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. In the afternoon make your way to Vermont, driving past picturesque New England farmlands and old-world towns. Day 3 Uncover the best of Vermont. Get a taste of delectable East Coast cuisine among some of the country's most beautiful landscapes on your New England tour. In Northfield, Vermont, try local produce over a Be My Guest Experience including lunch at Green Mountain Girls Farm. Learn about regenerative and sustainable farming and how they raise healthy and free-range animals including pigs, chickens, turkeys and goats as well as vegetables in Central Vermont before a farmhouse lunch. Day 1 Welcome to Boston. Affectionately known as Beantown, this revolutionary city is one of the oldest in the United States. After settling in, perhaps take a stroll to Downtown Crossing or historic Faneuil Hall. For those looking to shop, Quincy Market offers big brands and local products, set indoors and surrounding the columns of a regal 19th century building. At 18:00, join your Travel Director for a Welcome Dinner with wine and an opportunity to mingle with fellow guests at your hotel. Day 2 Beantown to Saratoga Springs. Today you'll discover some of Boston's most famous sights as you delve into the city's transformative past. You'll follow part of the red-brick Freedom Trail that brings the story of the American Revolution to life. Sights include Beacon Hill, Newbury Street, Faneuil Hall Marketplace and the Old South Meeting House. This afternoon, explore Stockbridge with an Insight Choice. Choose to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum, home to the largest and most significant collection of original Rockwell art. Alternatively, choose to take a guided tour of Chesterwood, the former summer home and studio of renowned 20th century sculptor Daniel Chester French. Travel on through the rolling hills of the Berkshires and onto your upstate New York hotel, situated within the Saratoga Spa State Park. Day 3 The Legends of the Fall and Stowe. Journey through the bronze fall foliage of Vermont. Visit the Vermont Country Store for a unique shopping experience - you'll step back into history with their nostalgic assortment of products. Explore the Rockefellers' renowned Billings Farm and Museum, a captivating working dairy and farm life museum, followed by a stop in the quintessential Vermont village of Woodstock with its picturesque, covered bridge. End your day in the northern Vermont town of Stowe, home to the breathtaking alpine setting that attracted the real Von Trapp family of "The Sound of Music." Enjoy Austrian-style lagers during your Highlight Dinner at Bierhall Restaurant. Day 4 A Taste of Vermont. Enjoy Vermont's beautiful scenery ablaze with fall's golden red colours. Stop by Lake Champlain Chocolates for a taste of their award-winning ice cream. Like their chocolates, their ice cream is crafted with only the best local ingredients - including fresh cream, maple syrup, and honey. Next, you'll travel to Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks, where maple syrup is "tapped" from the trees. Taste a Vermont tradition, the unusually named 'sugar on snow', a combination of maple syrup and packed snow. This tasty treat is traditionally served with a doughnut and pickle. Return to the enchanting town of Stowe where the rest of the day is yours. From wandering its quaint streets to hiking in the woods or relaxing back at your lodge, make the most of your last evening at this mountain resort. Day 5 North Conway and the White Mountains. Move on to Vermont's pretty capital, Montpelier. Journey to New Hampshire's White Mountains and enter striking Franconia Notch. Take a scenic ride on the Gondola SkyRide at Loon Mountain Resort. On a clear day, you'll have superb panoramic views of New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, New York and Canada. Later, journey through the dazzling crimson and orange hues of the famed Kancamagus Scenic Byway to North Conway. This spectacular section of Route 112 is unspoiled by industry and boasts 34.5 miles of untouched natural beauty. Day 6 Sightseeing in the White Mountains. In the morning, join a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER� Experience as you enjoy an insightful talk by a naturalist expert on the North Woods' wildlife and ecology. Then, more spectacular fall foliage awaits as you journey through Crawford Notch, an arresting pass through the White Mountains. Stop for pictures at the Silver Cascade Waterfall and Bretton Woods, which offers stunning views of Mount Washington, the tallest peak in the northeast at 6,288 feet (1,917 metres). Your Travel Director will guide you on a scenic hike to Diana's Baths, which features a series of small cascading waterfalls. Return to your hotel where you can enjoy an evening at leisure. Day 7 The Rugged Maine Coast. Cross from New Hampshire into Maine this morning as you travel along the jagged coastline. Head to Fort Williams Park which is home to the iconic Portland Head Lighthouse that has been in operation since 1791. Then spend the rest of your afternoon at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Celebration Dinner featuring Maine lobster with your fellow travellers. Day 8 Back to Boston. Known for its sandy beaches, Kennebunkport is a year-round coastal destination that houses the rich and famous, even serving as the summer retreat of former President George H.W. Bush. Travel along Ocean Drive with more stunning views of the Maine coastline, before driving back to Boston. Guests departing Boston will arrive at Boston Logan International Airport at 12:30 pm. Those extending their stay will return to the Hyatt Regency Boston hotel.
