Itinerary

Mera Peak (6476m / 21,246ft) offers one of the best introductions to Himalayan mountaineering -- a high-altitude adventure ideal for trekkers ready to take the next step into the world of climbing. As Nepal's highest designated trekking peak, Mera is the perfect goal for fit, first-time climbers wanting to challenge themselves in a safe, fully supported environment, with minimal technical demands. Our carefully crafted itinerary prioritises gradual acclimatisation and strength-building, significantly increasing your chances of summit success. We take the scenic route through the Solu Khumbu, passing through traditional Sherpa villages, terraced farmland, and forests of rhododendron and blue pine, before entering the remote and pristine Hinku Valley. This less-trodden path offers not only a gentler acclimatisation profile but also a richer cultural and scenic experience. What sets our Mera Peak expedition apart is our belief that the climb is about more than the summit -- it's about the journey. Climbing with World Expeditions means being part of a supportive team environment, where learning, personal growth, and cultural immersion are just as important as the physical achievement. Our experienced climbing guides will teach you the basic alpine skills you'll need for the ascent, and you'll have the opportunity to grow your confidence at altitude while enjoying the camaraderie of your group and the warmth of our Nepali crew. After reaching Mera Base Camp, we continue to a high camp just below the Mera La. From here, the summit push begins in the early hours. Roped up and wearing crampons, you'll gain hands-on mountaineering experience under expert guidance. The climb is non-technical but physically demanding due to the altitude -- a true test of endurance and mindset. The reward is nothing short of extraordinary: from the summit, take in sweeping views of five of the world's six highest mountains -- Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Cho Oyu -- a panorama few will ever witness. With over four decades of experience leading Himalayan expeditions, World Expeditions ensures exceptional safety standards, pre-trip support, inclusive logistics, quality equipment, and our trademark responsible travel practices. This is the perfect first Himalayan summit -- an achievable, empowering journey for aspiring climbers looking to start their mountaineering story on the right foot.
