When is the best time to visit Taupo?

If you're looking for warm weather and water-based activities, the summer months of December to February are ideal. Keep in mind that this is also peak tourist season, so if you prefer cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, the autumn months of March to May can be a great time to get out and about enjoying wine tours. Winter (June to August) is great for skiing and snowboarding on Mount Ruapehu, and finally, spring (September to November), can be a great time to visit for those who want to avoid the peak summer crowds but still enjoy warmer temperatures and blooming wildflowers.
