About Perth Airport
Perth Airport (PER) is the fourth busiest airport in Australia. It serves many domestic and international destinations and offered Australia’s first direct flight to Europe from the west coast, with the 17-hour, non-stop Qantas service to London. Perth Airport consists of two terminal precincts, T1/T2 and T3/T4, which are separated by a short, 10-minute drive.
What facilities are at Perth Airport?
Terminals at Perth Airport
Perth Airport has two distinct precincts, and it’s a good idea to orient yourself with the airport layout to save any unexpected dashes from one side of Perth Airport to the other. There are four terminals in total and, unlike other major flight hubs in Australia, Perth Airport is not simply divided into ‘domestic’ and ‘international’.
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 (T1/T2)
Terminals 1 and 2 are on the eastern side of the airport. This is the hub from which most international flights and all Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Rex Airlines flights operate. You’ll find that T1 is further split into domestic and international zones, which connect to each other.
Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 (T3/T4)
Terminals 3 and 4 are on the other side of the airport and are accessed from Brearley Avenue. It's from these two interconnected terminals that you’ll catch all Qantas domestic flights as well as any non-stop Qantas flights to Europe.
Check-in
Within Perth Airport you’ll find a wide range of services and facilities including restaurants, fashion boutiques – as well as all the essentials such as check-in.
Check-in requirements will differ between airlines, so it’s best to contact the airline you’ll be flying with to confirm how early you need to arrive at the airport and what the baggage restrictions may be, for example.
At Perth Airport, check-in areas are located on the ground floor of each terminal. If you’re leaving from the T1 International Terminal, self-check-in kiosks are available with participating airlines, making for a quicker and more streamlined check-in experience.
Baggage
If you’re departing Perth Airport, it’s a good idea to check the baggage allowances with your airline before you fly, as mentioned above. If you’re unsure about the weight of your baggage, you’ll be able to take advantage of the baggage weigh scales found at all terminals in the check-in zones, to help you avoid incurring excess baggage charges.
Is there a currency exchange?
There are a number of currency exchange facilities conveniently located throughout T1 of Perth Airport. Prefer to get your foreign currency sorted out in advance? Travel Money Oz can help you get organised before you head to the airport so you're ready to go as soon as you land!

What’s the best way to get to and from Perth Airport?
If you’re arriving at or departing from Perth, there are several different ways to travel to and from Perth Airport. Below you’ll find a brief overview of your transport options.
Car hire
Whether Perth is merely the beginning of an epic Western Australia road trip, or you just feel more comfortable having your own set of wheels, car hire is an excellent idea. Talk to your Travel Expert about organising car hire for your trip or book it yourself online before you leave. Your car will be ready and waiting for you at the airport, with car hire counters located in T1, T3 and T4. You’ll find a wide array of cars available for rent, including compact, midsize, luxury and 4WD vehicles.
Perth Airport parking
There are plenty of parking options available at Perth Airport, including LongTerm, ShortTerm, Premium, Regional and Valet.
LongTerm: For longer stays, you’ll find convenient Long Term parking locations at both the T1/T2 and T3/T4 airport precincts. There’s a free shuttle bus from LongTerm car parks to the terminals, which runs every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
ShortTerm: If you want to leave your car at the airport while you jet off to another WA destination for a few days, ShortTerm parking is ideal. These car parks are closer to the terminals than LongTerm parking, located just a couple of minutes away.
Premium: This is Perth Airport parking at its most convenient, although you’ll pay a little extra for the privilege. Premium Parking is the airport’s premier T3/T4 car park, just a one-minute walk to check-in. Any one of the 230 exclusive, wide bays can be reserved in advance by booking online.
Regional: Western Australia is a big state with several regional airlines, and therefore has a separate parking destination for anyone travelling with Marimba Airlines, National Jet Express, QantasLink or Skippers Aviation.
Taxi
Transport to or from Perth Airport by taxi is probably the easiest option. Taxi ranks are located at the front of all the terminals and are on hand 24/7 to pick up arriving passengers. What’s more, it only takes about 20 minutes to get to Perth's city centre by taxi.
Just follow the signs to the nearest taxi rank as you make your way through the airport to the exit. Note that Perth Airport adds $4 to your fare if you catch your taxi from the terminals, which goes toward the upkeep of the taxi facilities.
Rideshare
Both Uber and DiDi ridesharing services are available at Perth Airport, with dedicated pick-up bays within easy walking distance of each terminal. It’s recommended that you don’t order your Uber or DiDi ride until you have collected your baggage and are leaving the terminal. As with taxis, a $4 airport fee applies to all pick-ups at Perth Airport.
Public Transport
The Transperth public bus service is likely to be the option for the cheapest travel to and from Perth Airport. Transperth operates regular bus services to Perth City and other local areas from the airport, and have an online Journey Planner which will help you plan your trip. For T1/T2, the 37 bus route is a good option and for T3/T4 you’ll probably find that the 940 bus route is most convenient.
Picking up and dropping off by car
Perhaps you’re being picked up at Perth Airport by family or friends, or dropping people at the airport to catch a departing flight. Pick-up and drop-off is easy.
For the most unhurried pick up or drop off, you can park your car in the ShortTerm car park and walk into the terminal.
If you prefer to wait in your car, you can park and wait for free, for up to one hour in any of the LongTerm car parks. Just take a ticket upon entry to the car park and insert the same ticket as you leave the car park within the hour – there’s no need to validate it. Then, when your friend or family member has arrived, head to the pick-up bays at the front of the terminal.
Express pick-up and drop-off is also a feature of T2 and T3/T4, granting drivers a five-minute window to collect or drop off their passenger before they are charged an overstay fee.
How do I transfer between terminals?
It’s important to arrive at the correct terminal if you’re departing from Perth Airport, because the T1/T2 precinct and the T3/T4 precinct are a short 15-minute drive apart. If you do need to transfer between the terminals, there is a free and convenient shuttle bus which runs every 20 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day.
