Malaysian currency consists of the ringgit (RM), which is divided into 100 sen (sometimes called cents). Notes are issues in denominations of RM1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000; coins come in 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent denominations.

Credit cards are accepted in most of the larger hotels, restaurants and shops. Cash advances from credit cards are available through banks although the amount allowed can be limited and your passport is required for over-the-counter transactions.

ATMs are available if you have connected your card to an international banking system like Cirrus or PLUS.
